Pitt Wraps Up Tennessee Relays With A Pair Of Victories & Multiple Top-10 Marks

KNOXVILLE, TN – The Pitt track and field teams had another strong weekend as they continued their outdoor season at the Tennessee Relays in Knoxville, TN this weekend. The Panthers collected two victories, nine top-10 marks and posted 17 personal records.
Senior Ade Jones-Roundtree had himself another strong weekend for the Panthers as he was able to secure the victory in the 400m dash with a personal record time of 46.72 seconds, the sixth fastest in program history. He then notched a second place finish in the 200m dash with a season-best time of 21.08 seconds while teammate Lonzell Feagin came in fourth place in the same race in 21.64 seconds.
Nikki Scherer continued her strong outdoor campaign with her first victory of the season in the 400m dash as she posted a personal record time of 53.75 seconds. Her time marked the eighth fastest in program history in the event and the third fastest in the ACC so far this season. Scherer was then able to secure a fourth place finish in the 200m dash with a season-best time of 24.24 seconds.
The Panthers had four top-10 times in the 1500m run on Friday afternoon as senior Ally Brunton continued her successful outdoor campaign with a fifth place finish. Brunton took home fifth place with a new personal record time of 4:21.40, the second fastest time in program history in the event and seventh fastest in the ACC this season. On the men's side, team captain Nick Wolk led a trio of Panthers with a third place finish in the 1500m run with a new personal record time of 3:43.95, the fifth fastest time in program history. Josh Higgins took home seventh place in 3:46.34, the seventh fastest time in program history, while sophomore Jack Miller took eighth place in 3:48.25, the 10th fastest in program history.
Freshman Emily Brown had an impressive showing in the 3000m steeplechase on Friday night as she led for most of the race before finishing in third place. The Fredonia native crossed the finish line with a personal record time of 10:36.53 which marked the third fastest time in the event in program history.
In the men's long jump, Pitt had a pair of athletes collect personal record leaps led by senior Kollin Smith who notched a fourth place finish with a jump of 24-5 (7.44m), the fourth best in program history. Smith also posted a fourth place finish in the 110m hurdles as he crossed the finish line in 14.64 seconds. Fellow senior Felix Wolter finished in seventh place in the long jump with a PR leap of 23-10.75 (7.28m), the sixth best leap in program history. Wolter then finished in fourth place in the 100m dash with a PR time of 10.74 seconds, the fastest time by a Panther this season.
Junior Eddita Pessima posted another strong weekend in the hurdle events for the Panthers as she notched a pair of second place finishes. Pessima crossed the finish line in the 100m hurdles in second place in 13.41 seconds before closing out her afternoon with another second place finish in the 400m hurdles in 1:00.25. Fellow Panther Aysha Muhammad also posted a pair of strong finishes as she notched a fourth place finish in the 400m hurdles with a season-best time of 1:02.14 and a fifth place finish in the 100m hurdles in 14.07 seconds. On the men's side, Matt Wilson posted a third place finish in the 400m hurdles with a season-best time of 53.62 seconds.
Pitt posted a pair of season-best performances in the 4x400m relays as the men's quartet of Feagin, Jones-Roundtree, Wilson and Danté Watson crossed the finish line in 3:10.01. On the women's side, the team of Scherer, Pessima, Flora Ahiarakwe and Muhammad took home third place with a season-best time of 3:42.74, the fourth fastest time in the ACC so far this season.
In other field events, senior Koryn Jozwiakowski posted a personal record leap of 38-5 (11.71m) in the triple jump to secure a seventh place finish while freshman Ilse Steigenga notched a personal record jump of 18-11.25 (5.77m) in the long jump to finish in 10th place overall.
