BOCA RATON, Fla. – The University of Pittsburgh softball team fell to Illinois State, 9-5, in the FAU Parents Weekend Tournament Saturday afternoon.

NEWS & NOTES

Junior Sarah Seamans hit her fifth homerun of the season. Seamans was tied for second in the ACC in homeruns heading into today's game. She finished 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Junior Katlyn Pavlick went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBI, one run and a walk. She finished the weekend 6-for-11 with three doubles, five RBI, two runs and a .818 slugging percentage.
Senior Hunter Levesque hit her second triple of the season and sixth of her career. She is now tied for third all-time in career triples at Pitt.

Illinois State (5-3) started the scoring in the first inning, as Emme Olson hit a RBI single up the middle to give the Redbirds an early 1-0 lead. Pitt (6-9) got that run right back in the bottom of the first, as Pavlick scored sophomore EC Taylor on a fielder's choice.

Illinois State answered in the top of the second with an RBI single to take a 2-1 advantage. Pavlick earned her second RBI of the day in the bottom of the third, hitting a double down the left field line and scoring Levesque from third to tie the game at 2-2. Freshman Cami Compson drove in Pavlick to give Pitt a 3-2 lead.

The Redbirds scored two in the top of the fifth to take 4-3 lead and two in the top of the sixth to make it 6-3. Illinois State's Madi Bylak and Kali Chval hit back-to-back RBI singles in the top of the seventh and Pitt trailed 9-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh.

With two outs, Levesque hit the sixth triple of her career to centerfield. Seamans drove her in with the next at bat with a two out homerun to left. The homer was the fifth of the season for Seamans and sixth of her career.

Pitt returns to ACC play with a four game series with Georgia Tech starting Friday, Mar. 12 at 6 p.m. Coverage will be broadcast on ACCNX.
