The Panthers added a run in the top of the third courtesy of Pavlick's RBI double to right center field, her fourth double of the season. Pavlick scored Taylor and put the Panthers up 4-0.
Georgia Tech (7-13, 2-9 ACC) answered with a big third inning, scoring four runs on two separate two-run homeruns from Breanna Roper and Emma Kauf. The score stayed tied going into the top of the fourth.
Pitt regained the lead with two runs in the top of the fourth (6-4), as senior LoLo Sanchez hit a RBI double to right and Taylor registered a sacrifice fly to center, bringing in sophomore Kayla Lane. Pitt made it a 7-4 ballgame in the top of the fifth, as senior Walker Barbee hit a RBI single up the middle, scoring Levesque.
Georgia Tech again scored four runs in an inning, this time in the bottom of the fifth to lead, 8-7. A bases clearing double scored three runs for the Yellow Jackets.
Georgia Tech added three runs in the bottom of the sixth via two singles and a groundout and led, 11-7, heading into the final inning.
Pitt made things interesting in the top of the seventh, as Seamans walked to put a runner on with no outs. After a fly out to center, Lane hit a two-run homerun to left field to cut the Georgia Tech deficit to two (11-9). The homer was the first of Lane's career. Barbee stepped in and hit a solo shot to left, her third of the season and got Pitt within one run, 11-10. A pitching change ensued, and the Yellow Jackets got Sanchez to line out and Taylor to ground out to end the game.
Barbee went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Lane went 1-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Sanchez finished 2-for-4 with a double and RBI.
