No. 19 Panthers Set for Another Road Weekend

Pitt Volleyball to Visit Durham, N.C., for Matches Against Miami, Duke
PITTSBURGH – The No. 19 Pitt volleyball team (9-4, 8-4 ACC) will stay on the road for a pair of matches in Durham, N.C., against Miami (9-4, 7-4 ACC) and host Duke (8-8, 6-5 ACC) Saturday and Sunday, respectively, at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

LAST TIME OUT
- MATCH 1 (at Wake Forest): Senior right side hitter Chinaza Ndee led Pitt to its fourth consecutive win with 11 kills in a sweep of Wake Forest Friday at LJVM Coliseum. The Panthers picked up the win by scores of 25-12, 25-19, 25-22. Pitt had the advantage in kills (39-30), assists (37-26), service aces (8-2), digs (29-20) and hitting percentage (.309-.173.). The Demon Deacons recorded more blocks (10.0-8.0).
- MATCH 2 (vs. NC State): Senior outside hitter Kayla Lund led Pitt to its third consecutive sweep, this time against NC State Saturday at LJVM Coliseum. The Panthers pummeled the Wolfpack by scores of 25-6, 25-15, 25-12. Lund hit a hot .632 in the three-set match, recording 13 kills on 19 attempts with just one error. She added seven digs and two service aces. Ndee had 11 kills from the right side and had seven digs, four blocks and three aces.
PITT IN THE POLL
- Pitt moved up three spots to No. 19 in the most recent national poll by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
- The Panthers have been ranked in 50 consecutive AVCA polls, dating back to the 2018 Preseason Poll.
RANKING THE PANTHERS
- Through matches played on March 18, Pitt leads the ACC assists per set (13.26). The Panthers are second in the league in kills per set (14.23) and opponent hitting percentage (.157), and third in blocks per set (2.57).
- Junior middle blocker Sabrina Starks leads the ACC with 61 total blocks in 2020-21 and is ranked third with 1.30 blocks per set.
- Senior outside hitter Kayla Lund is third in the league in kills per set (4.02), points per set (4.69), total kills (189) and total points (220.5).
SCOUTING MIAMI
- Miami (9-4, 8-4 ACC) is riding a three-match win streak into Saturday's match against the Panthers. The Hurricanes took down Duke in five sets Friday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
- The Hurricanes' Savannah Vach leads the ACC with 11.20 assists per set. Elizaveta Lukianova is the league leader in both kills per set (4.64) and points per set (5.20).
- Pitt has won the last seven encounters with Miami, with its last loss coming Oct. 11, 2013, in Pittsburgh (3-0). The Panthers own a 10-4 lead in the all-time series between the teams.
SCOUTING DUKE
- Duke (8-8, 6-5 ACC) is looking to snap a six-match loss streak when it meets the Panthers on Sunday. The Blue Devils fell in five sets to Miami Friday night in Durham.
- The Blue Devils lead the ACC with 127 total team blocks, and Mackenzie Cole paces the league with 256 total digs.
- The Panthers have won the last three meetings against Duke, with their last loss coming Oct. 18, 2018, at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Since that loss, Pitt has not dropped a set to the Blue Devils, sweeping the last three contests.

- Pitt will return to Fitzgerald Field House for a three-match home stretch, hosting West Virginia (March 24), No. 25 Florida State (March 26) and North Carolina (March 28). Each match will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
