
Panthers Host Notre Dame For Pink The Pete Game On Monday Night

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's basketball team (5-10, 3-9 ACC) will look to close out their home schedule on Monday night with a victory as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish come to town for a conference clash. Monday's game will tip at 8:00 pm on the ACC Network with Pam Ward and LaChina Robinson on the call.

- Monday's meeting marks the 34th meeting of all-time between the two programs with the Irish owning the 29-4 lead in the series.
- The Irish are 14-2 in games being played in Pittsburgh and have won six straight on the road against Pitt.
- The Panthers won the last meeting between the two teams as they downed the Irish 67-65 last season in the First Round of the ACC Tournament as freshman Dayshanette Harris sank the game-winning bucket with under four seconds remaining. It marked their second ACC Tournament win in program history.
- The Panthers were able to hang with one of the best teams in the country for the first half but the #3 Louisville Cardinals outscored Pitt 49-31 in the second half to secure the 82-58 victory.
- Pitt was within six at halftime thanks in large part to the play of senior captain Gabbie Green who netted a team-high 20 points on 5-for-8 from behind the arc in the loss. Jayla Everett finished off her night with 14 points and five assists while Liatu King came off the bench for six points and six boards.
- The Panthers turned the ball over 20 times and the Cardinals turned those chances into 21 points. The Cardinals also dominated Pitt down low, outscoring the Panthers 46-22 in paint scoring.
- Junior guard Jayla Everett has led the Panthers offensively all season long and currently ranks 8th in the ACC in scoring (15.3 ppg). She also ranks 4th in the ACC in three-pointers made/game (2.9) while connecting on a team-high 43 triples.
- A bright spot for the Panthers so far this season has been their rebounding, especially on the offensive glass. Pitt currently leads the ACC in offensive rebounds/game (16.6 orpg) while also ranking 9th in the NCAA overall. In ACC play, Pitt leads all teams grabbing 17.2 orpg.
- Pitt returns home on Monday night for their final home game of the 2020-21 season as they play host to Notre Dame. Monday's game will be the 14th annual Pink the Pete game for Pitt as they help to raise awareness for those affected by breast cancer.
- The Pitt offense has begun to hit their stride as they have posted two ACC games with 80+ points scored, tied for the most in a season in program history. Pitt is averaging 67.0 ppg in ACC play, their highest points per game total through 12 ACC games in program history.
- The Panthers have done a great job over the last two seasons of attacking the offensive glass.
- Last time out, Pitt snagged 21 offensive rebounds against Louisville. They have eight straight games with 15+ offensive rebounds.
- Pitt has three games with 20+ offensive rebounds this season, all three of which came in the last five games.
- The Panthers have upped their production on the offensive glass this season as they lead the ACC overall (16.6 orpg) and in ACC games (17.2 orpg).
- The Panthers currently rank 9th in the NCAA in offensive rebounds/game (16.6 orpg) and third overall among Power 5 programs.
- Pitt has a pair of forwards who rank inside the top-6 in the ACC in offensive rebounds/game in conference games. Cynthia Ezeja ranks fifth (3.1 orpg) and Rita Igbokwe ranks sixth (3.0 orpg).
- Sophomore Rita Igbokwe has made major strides in her development in year two.
- The athletically gifted Igbokwe is averaging a career-high 19.5 mpg, 5.2 ppg, 6.7 rpg and 1.7 bpg while shooting 50% from the floor.
- Igbokwe ranks fifth in the ACC in blocked shots/game (1.7) while notching at least one block in all 15 games this season.
- Dating back to last season, Igbokwe has recorded at least one block in 20 straight games. It's the longest streak in the ACC and second longest by a Power 5 player (Matasha Mack, Oklahoma St.).
- Pitt will return hit the road for their final two games of the regular season. The Panthers will take on nationally-ranked NC State on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 4:00 pm on ACC Network Extra.
- The Regular season will come to a close on Sunday, Feb. 28 as the Panthers take on Georgia Tech at 2:00 pm on ACC Network.
