12/8/2021 5:20:00 PM | Baseball
PITTSBURGH – Pitt baseball head coach Mike Bell unveiled the program's 56-game 2022 spring schedule Friday. The Panthers play 25 home games, including the two previously announced games at PNC Park against local rivals Penn State and West Virginia.
"As we continue to build and grow as a program, this schedule will most definitely challenge and prepare our student-athletes for grind of the ACC," Bell said. "Year in and year out, we know that the ACC provides the opportunity to compete for championships. Our conference schedule as well as our non-conference rival matchups will challenge our program to new heights and continue to create memories for our program."
With 23 newcomers joining the program, the Panthers return a talented 16-man core that includes six position starters and two starting weekend pitchers from its most successful season last spring since joining the ACC. The Panthers were ranked nationally for nine consecutive weeks, including its highest ranking at No. 14 by Baseball America. Pitt racked up six ACC series wins, a program record, including sweeps of Miami and Florida State.
