Pitt Alum Dixon Veltri Signs with Emek Hefer WFC

PITTSBURGH — Pitt women's soccer alum Dixon Veltri has signed a professional contract with Maccabi Emek Hefer WFC of the Israel Women's Premier League. Veltri joins past teammates Juliana Vazquez (Puerto Rico Sol FC) and Amaia Pena (Athletic Club Femenino) as the third player under Pitt head coach Randy Waldrum to turn pro.
The Pittsburgh native (Fox Chapel High School) was a three-year letterwinner in the previous three seasons for the Panthers after transferring following her freshman season at UNCW. She played in 48 games with 20 starts as a midfielder for Pitt. She made an instant impact in her first season with a goal and two assists. Her last two years, she served as a leader for young Panthers squads that has seen a remarkable rebuild under Waldrum and was selected a team captain in 2020.
After winning the second league championship for the 2018-19 season, Emek Hefer is in its second season in the first league. The team has won both of its games of the 2021-22 season at home, 3-0 shutouts. The 16-game regular season that has a round-robin schedule that goes into the end of February in 2022 with the top four team playing a round robin championship.
Veltri will join Emek Hefer in December. She is set to earn a Master's Degree in Sustainable Engineering from Pitt at the conclusion of the fall semester. A three-time ACC Honor Roll selection, she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Finance with a minor in Economics and certificate in Sustainability.
