Panthers Travel To Boston For Clash With Eagles On Thursday Night

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's basketball team will wrap up their two-game road trip on Thursday night as they head to Boston to take on the Boston College Eagles at 7:00 pm inside the Conte Forum. The Panthers will be looking for revenge from a loss earlier this season to the Eagles at the Pete. Tip is set for 7:00 pm and the game will air live on ACC Network Extra.

- Thursday night's game at Boston College will air live on ACC Network Extra with Bill Spaulding (play-by-play) and Kerri Shields (analyst) on the call. The game can be streamed by clicking HERE.

- This meeting marks the 48th game of all-time between the two programs with Boston College holding the 29-18 advantage in the series.
- The Eagles have won three straight in the series including a game earlier this year in Pittsburgh when they downed the Panthers 79-70.
- Boston College holds a 16-6 edge in games played in Boston.
- The Panthers last win on the road against Boston College came on Jan. 3, 1994.
- The Boston College Eagles currently own a 15-10 overall record and a 8-6 ACC mark. The Eagles are currently riding a three-game winning streak after downing UNC 93-75 last time out.
- The Eagles are being led offensively by Emma Guy who is averaging 13.8 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 60.3% from the floor across 25 starts.
- Taylor Soule is enjoying a breakout sophomore campaign for the Eagles as she is averaging 13.5 points and a team-high 7.8 rebounds while shooting 53.6% from the floor.
- Marnelle Garraud has made 21 starts and is averaging 10.0 points, a team-high 3.8 assists and 2.8 rebounds across a team-high 30.7 minutes so far this season.
- As a team, BC is averaging 73.3 points while allowing an average of 67.5 points. The Eagles are also shooting 43.9% from the floor as a team.
- The Panthers fell behind early on Sunday afternoon at Syracuse and they weren't able to climb all the way out of the early hole as they fell 71-53 to the Orange in the Carrier Dome.
- Making her return to the court for the Panthers on Sunday, freshman Dayshanette Harris had a monster game for Pitt as she netted a team-high 18 points, seven rebounds, three steals and three assists across 34 minutes of work.
- Fellow freshman Amber Brown finished off her third straight game scoring in double figures with 14 points, six rebounds and two steals in the loss.
- As a team, Pitt was outrebounded 48-32 while the Panthers were able to outscore the Orange 34-22 inside the paint.
- Dayshanette Harris has handled the reins of the Pitt offense since her first day on campus and she is showing flashes of becoming a star for the Panthers.
- Harris returned to the Pitt lineup on Sunday and had a big game as she led the Panthers with 18 points, seven rebounds, three steals and three assists across 34 minutes.
- Over her last seven games, Harris is averaging a team-high 14.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.9 steals across an average of 30.3 minutes.
- On the year, Harris is averaging 26.6 minutes, 10.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists and a team-best 1.8 steals while starting 18 of 24 games at the point.
- In ACC games, Harris is tied for second among freshmen in scoring average (11.8 ppg).
- Harris is the only true freshman in a Power Five conference to average at least 10.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.5 assists and 1.8 spg on the year.
- Harris has notched two or more steals in 11 of her last 14 games for the Panthers as she is becoming a threat on the defensive end of the court. She has a total of 15 multi-steal games so far this season.
- Harris was named ACC Freshman of the Week for the first time two weeks as she averaged 15.0 points and 7.0 rebounds while leading Pitt to their first ACC win.
- She is the second Pitt freshman to earn the weekly ACC honor, marking the first time in program history Pitt had two different ACC Freshman of the Week honorees in the same season.
- Earlier this season, Harris exploded for a career-high 26 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals against Penn State, the most points scored by a Pitt freshman in a game since Kalista Walters posted 26 points in 2015-16.
- Harris is the first Pitt freshman since Kalista Walters in 2015-16 to post at least two 20+ scoring efforts in a season.
- Entering the 2019-20 campaign, the Panthers knew they were going to have to rely heavily on a handful of newcomers to make an impact and they have done a nice job so far this season.
- The six newcomers for the Pitt are averaging a combined 40.8 points and 27.0 rebounds per game so far this season.
- The newcomers are accounting for 70.7% of the Panthers scoring efforts this season and 66.0% of the rebounding efforts.
- The freshman duo of Dayshanette Harris and Amber Brown have combined to score 20.2 points per game, the second best freshman duo in the ACC behind Notre Dame's duo of Sam Brunelle and Katlyn Gilbert (26.5 ppg).
- The freshman duo of Brown and Rita Igbokwe are currently lead all ACC freshman duos in combined rebounds (15.1 rpg). The duo is currently ranks second in the NCAA for freshman duos combined rebounds/game, trailing only the duo from UC Santa Barbara (16.0 rpg).
- Brown and Igbokwe are one of two duos of freshman teammates in the NCAA averaging at least 7.0 rpg each (Oregon State).
- Pitt and Virginia are the only teams in the ACC with three freshman (Harris, Brown, Hayford) who are averaging at least 20.0 mpg on the season.
- The Panthers will return to the Petersen Events Center for the final time this season on Sunday, Feb. 23 as they welcome #5 Louisville for a 2:00 pm tip. Sunday's home finale will also be Senior Day for Alayna Gribble and Aysia Bugg.
