Panthers Set for EAGL Matchup
PITTSBURGH – Pitt gymnastics (3-3, 1-2 EAGL) will host a sequence of three consecutive home meets at Fitzgerald Field House, beginning with a dual against EAGL leader NC State (3-3, 2-1 EAGL) Saturday at 2 p.m.

PHILANTHROPY OF THE MEET
- Sock It To Homelessness: Fans who bring a new pair of socks to donate at the meet will receive a pair of Pitt socks in return.
- The Panthers will give the donated socks to a homeless shelter in Pittsburgh.
RANKING THE PANTHERS
- Senior Michaela Burton is the EAGL's top performer on uneven bars with an average score of 9.838. She has earned the individual title for the event in three of the Panthers' four meets so far this season, recording a team-best score of 9.850 twice.
- Pitt ranks second in the EAGL on bars with an average team score of 48.625, ranking No. 34 in the nation.
- Burton and classmate Deven Herbine rank fourth and fifth, respectively, in the EAGL on balance beam. Last time out, Burton recorded a 9.925, tying Pitt's fourth-highest beam score in program history.
LAST TIME OUT
- Pitt made a statement with its best score of the 2020 season, producing a 195.700 to win a quad meet Friday night at Charles E. Smith Center. The Panthers defeated George Washington (195.375), No. 24 West Virginia (194.850), and William & Mary (191.425).
- Pitt earned season-best scores on all four events. On beam, the Panthers tied the eighth-best team score on the event in program history with a 49.075.
- Senior Michaela Burton wrote her name into the Pitt record book, tying the fourth-best individual beam score in program history, winning the event with a 9.925.
- Two other Panthers picked up individual wins at the meet, including freshman Ciara Ward on floor (9.875) and junior Haley Brechwald on vault (9.850).
SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
- NC State (3-3, 2-1 EAGL) leads the league with an average score of 195.031, ranking No. 29 in the nation.
- The Wolfpack is the top team in the conference on bars with an average team score of 48.744. It ranks second on floor (48.975) and third on beam (48.688).
- Senior Drew Grantham is the EAGL's top performer on floor, averaging 9.869.
- Senior Alexis Beucler is the younger sister of Pitt volunteer assistant coach Marissa Beucler. Beucler competed at Kentucky, graduating in 2016.
- NC State has won the last three meetings between the teams, including the most recent matchup at the 2019 EAGL Championships, where the Wolfpack placed ahead of Pitt (195.275-194.900).
