Pitt Gymnastics Faces Tough Competition on the Road
DENVER – The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (7-12, 1-3 EAGL) faced three Top 25 opponents in a quad meet Sunday afternoon at the University of Denver.
The Panthers finished fourth with a score of 194.200, behind No. 6 Denver (197.675), No. 18 Nebraska (196.225) and No. 21 Arizona State (194.825).
Junior Deven Herbine earned two career-high scores on the day, with a 9.800 on beam and a 9.700 on floor. Freshman Olivia Miller placed fifth in the all-around competition with a score of 38.425.
FLOOR
Sophomore Jordan Ceccarini led the Panthers with a season high-tying 9.825 on floor to open the meet. Herbine earned a career-best score for the event, posting a 9.700. Pitt totaled 48.225 for the rotation, reaching third place to begin the meet.
VAULT
Junior Alecia Petrikis anchored the Panthers with a team-high 9.800 on vault. Miller followed with a 9.750, while Herbine and sophomore Sophie Bochenek each earned scores of 9.725. Halfway through the meet, Pitt remained in third place, with a score of 48.675 for the rotation and 96.900 through two events.
BARS
Sophomore Haley Brechwald was Pitt's top performer on bars, earning a 9.750. Junior Rachel Dugan was next with a 9.725, followed by Miller with a 9.700. In total, Pitt earned a 48.425 to reach a three-event score of 145.325.
BEAM
The Panthers posted a strong finish to the meet, closing out the final rotation with their best score of the day, 48.875 on beam. Herbine tied a career high of 9.800 for the event, earning the team-high score along with senior Brittany West. Brechwald followed with a 9.775, and freshmen Kiley Robatin and Miller each earned scores of 9.725.

Pitt will conclude its regular season with a five-team meet at Towson against the host Tigers, George Washington, Maryland and New Hampshire Sunday, March 17, at 2 p.m. in Towson, Md.
