Brechwald Makes Season Debut in All-Around Competition
TOWSON, Md. – Sophomore Haley Brechwald was named runner-up in the all-around competition for the Pitt gymnastics team (7-16, 1-6 EAGL), as the Panthers completed their regular season inside SECU Arena at Towson Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers placed fifth (193.850) behind Maryland (196.450), George Washington (196.025), New Hampshire (195.050) and Towson (194.000).
Competing all-around for the first time this season, Brechwald earned a score of 39.075. She made her season debut on floor, scoring a 9.75.
BARS
Making her collegiate debut, freshman Rebekah Jenkins led the Panthers with a 9.825 on bars. Classmate Olivia Miller followed with a 9.775, while Brechwald earned a 9.725. In total, Pitt scored a 48.65 to open the meet.
BEAM
Senior Brittany West stayed consistent, leading Pitt on beam with a 9.85. Brechwald and freshman Kiley Robatin each earned 9.8, and junior Deven Herbine contributed at 9.675. Overall, Pitt totaled 48.25 to make their two-event score 96.5.
FLOOR
Sophomore Jordan Ceccarini reached a season-high 9.875 on floor to lead the Panthers. In her season debut for the event, Brechwald produced a 9.75. Senior Charli Spivey scored a 9.8, and sophomore Sophie Bochenek earned a 9.7. Pitt posted a 48.55 for the event to make its total 145.45 for three rotations.
VAULT
Herbine and Brechwald each earned scores of 9.8 to lead Pitt on vault. Junior Alecia Petrikis contributed a 9.725 and Ceccarini received a 9.675. Pitt closed the meet with a 48.4 and totaled 193.85 for the meet.
UP NEXT
