
Panthers Set To Host 12th Annual Pink The Petersen On Sunday

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women's basketball team (9-15, 0-10 ACC) will "Pink The Petersen" on Sunday afternoon as they welcome the No. 25 Miami Hurricanes to town for a 2:00 pm tip. Sunday's game is the Panthers 12th Annual Pink The Petersen game as they raise awareness and money for breast cancer research and treatment.
A portion of all ticket sales for Sunday afternoon's game against Miami will be donated to the Susan G. Komen of Greater Pennsylvania.

- Sunday's game will the Panthers 12th annual "Pink The Petersen" game for breast cancer awareness. A portion of each ticket sold will be donated to Susan G. Komen of Pittsburgh. Fans will also receive a free "Pink The Petersen" t-shirt while supplies last.
- For the first time in school history, the Panthers have faced four top-12 programs through their first seven conference games.
- The Panthers goal offensively is 60 points scored as they own an 8-0 record this season when they score 60+ and a 1-15 record when not doing so.
- The Panthers (9-15, 0-10 ACC) played three strong quarters on the road against Georgia Tech but some defensive lapses in the third quarter doomed Pitt as they fell to the Yellow Jackets 67-55.
- The Panthers were outscored in the third quarter 24-16 as the Yellow Jackets were able to shoot 44.4% from the floor and hit all six of their free throw opportunities.
- Senior Danielle Garven led the Panthers in scoring on Thursday night as she netted 14 points and eight rebounds across 34 minutes of work as she went 6-for-11 from the floor.
- Sophomore center Cara Judkins made a strong impact down low for the Panthers on Thursday as she was able to gather her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds across a season-high 28 minutes of action.
- As a team, the Panthers were able to outshoot the Yellow Jackets 38.2% to 35.4% but they turned the ball over 18 times and Georgia Tech turned those chances into 20 points.
- The Miami Hurricanes come to town after their biggest win of the season as they defeated No. 4 Notre Dame at home on Thursday night. The Hurricanes enter Sunday's game with a 20-5 record and an 8-2 mark on the season while earning the No. 25 rank in the country.
- The Hurricanes are being led offensively by Beatrice Mompremier who is averaging a double-double with 16.3 points and 11.7 rebounds while also shooting 54.2% from the floor. Mompremier has been named ACC Player of the Week twice so far this season.
- Emese Hof has been a force down low for Miami as well this season as she is averaging 14.0 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks while leading the ACC in field goal percentage (.610).
- As a team, Miami ranks inside the top-five in the ACC in multiple categories. The Hurricanes currently rank third in the conference in field goal percentage (.455), three-point field goal percentage (.363) and rebounding offense (42.9).
- The Hurricanes are coached by Katie Meier who is in her 14th season at the helm of Miami. Meier currently owns a career head coaching record of 348-213 and a 272-168 record at Miami. Meier has led the Hurricanes to the postseason in nine straight seasons and have qualified for the NCAA Tournament in seven of the past eight seasons.
- Pitt will return home on Thursday night as they welcome the North Carolina Tar Heels to the Petersen Events Center for a 7:00 pm tip.
- After the UNC game, the Panthers will return to the road for three straight games starting on Sunday, Feb. 17 as they head to Tallahassee to take on Florida State at 2:00 pm.
