PITTSBURGH – The Pitt track and field teams will hit the road for their final tune-up before the 2019 ACC Indoor Championships as they travel to Kent State for the Doug Raymond National Qualifier on Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers will also be sending three distance student-athletes to Washington to take part in the Husky Classic on Friday evening as Nick Wolk, Kelly Hayes and Sam Shields will all take part in the 5000m runs out west.

- Other schools competing in the men's and women's 5000m races on Friday are Grand Canyon, Southern Utah, Colorado State, Western Colorado, San Francisco, Adams State, Washington State, Air Force, Colorado, UC Santa Barbara, Portland State, Idaho, Washington, Penn State, Tennessee, Boise State, UCLA, Weber State, Arizona, Texas, Stanford, Oregon, Villanova, New Mexico, and Wichita State.
- The school participating in the Doug Raymond National Qualifier will be Windsor, Ashland, Ball State, Buffalo, Toledo, Central Michigan, Kent State, Ohio, Youngstown State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Akron and Duquesne.
- The meet was originally scheduled to be a two-day event but it has been modified to only run on Friday, Feb. 8 from around 12:00 pm ET to 6:30 pm ET.
- The women's 60m hurdles will open up the action at 12:00 pm and the competition will conclude at 6:25 pm ET with the men's 5000m run.
- The Panthers participants will compete at 5:45 pm ET and 6:25 pm ET in the 5000m runs.
- The meet will run all day on Saturday afternoon with the first event, women's weight throw, beginning at 12:00 pm.
- The competition will conclude on Saturday at 6:55 pm with the running of the men's 4x400m relay.
- The Panthers competed at the Power Five Invitational last week in Michigan.
- Pitt one individual champion and multiple top-10 all-time marks against some of the top talent in the country.
- Sophomore Greg Lauray posted a victory in the high jump as he cleared a career-best 2.13m, the second highest leap in school history.
- In the 60m hurdles, junior Shyheim Wright put together a great run as he earned second place with a personal record time of 7.97 seconds, the eighth fastest time in school history in the event. On the women's side, Aysha Muhammad posted a second place finish in 8.66 seconds.
- Freshman Matt Wilson had a strong showing in the 400m run as he took home fourth place, finishing in a personal record time of 48.56 seconds. On the women's side, Nikki Scherer took home fifth place in a season-best time of 55.66 seconds.
- Pitt saw two women finish inside the top-seven in the 60m dash as Jaylyn Aminu took home fifth place in 7.70 seconds and Genaya Johnson finished in seventh in 7.74 seconds.
- In the distance medley relay, the quartet of Ally Brunton, Muhammad, Mikaela Vlasic and Miranda Salvo took home second place in 11:39.01, the sixth fastest time in school history. On the men's side, the distance medley relay team of Nate Sloan, Crockett Schooler, Drew Glick and Nick Wolk placed second in a season-best time of 9:57.28.
- The Panthers will have a week off before heading down to Blacksburg, VA for the 2019 ACC Indoor Championships hosted by Virginia Tech. The ACC Championships will begin on Feb. 21 and go through Feb. 23.
