
Women's Hoops Travels To Georgia Tech On Thursday

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women's basketball team (9-14, 0-9 ACC) hits the road on Thursday night for an ACC battle against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets inside the McCamish Pavilion at 7:00 pm.

- Thursday night's game at Georgia Tech will broadcast live on the ACC Network Extra or on WatchESPN/WatchESPN app. Wiley Ballard (play-by-play) and Theresa Gernatt (color) will be on the call on Thursday night.

- For the first time in school history, the Panthers have faced four top-12 programs through their first seven conference games.
- The Panthers goal offensively is 60 points scored as they own an 8-0 record this season when they score 60+ and a 1-13 record when not doing so.
- The Panthers (9-14, 0-9 ACC) got out to a quick start on Sunday as they led through 10 minutes but they weren't able to hang on as the Duke Blue Devils handed Pitt the 74-55 defeat inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.
- The Panthers were able to cut the deficit down to three in the second half but Duke outscored Pitt 22-13 in the final frame to secure the win.
- Senior Cassidy Walsh had her best shooting performance from behind the arc in the loss on Sunday as she was able to connect on a career-best six threes while finishing with 18 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two assists. The six three-pointers were one shy of a school record for threes in a game.
- Junior Jasmine Whitney had another solid performance at point for the Panthers as she netted nine points, four rebounds, a team-high four assists and a team-best four steals across 36 minutes of work.
- As a team, the Panthers were able to forced 21 Duke turnovers but they were only able to turn those chances into 17 points while the Blue Devils had 21 points off of Pitt turnovers.
- The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets enter Thursday night's game with a 13-9 overall record and a 3-6 ACC mark as they have lost three straight. Last time out, the Yellow Jackets were handed a 90-50 loss by Notre Dame on the road.
- The Yellow Jackets are being led offensively by freshman Elizabeth Balogun who is averaging 15.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.7 steals while shooting 44.7% from the floor and connecting on 52 triples on the year.
- Francesca Pan has started 19 games for Georgia Tech and is averaging 11.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and a team-best 2.0 steals while connecting on 41 three-pointers and shooting 81.1% from the charity stripe.
- As a team, Georgia Tech is good on the glass as they rank fifth in the conference averaging 42.0 rebounds/game while also ranking fourth in the ACC in rebounding margin (+6.7). The Yellow Jackets also rank second in the ACC in steals (10.6/game) and third in blocks (4.4/game).
- The Yellow Jackets are coached by Machelle Joseph who has spent her whole 16-year coaching career roaming the Georgia Tech sidelines. Joseph has accumulated a 307-200 career record for the Yellow Jackets and has led them to 10 seasons of 20+ wins and seven NCAA Tournament appearances.
- Pitt will return home on Sunday afternoon as they play host to Miami in their 12th annual Pink The Pete game at 2:00 pm.
- After Miami, the will play host to North Carolina on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7:00 pm inside the Petersen Events Center.
