GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Pitt men's swimmers will take to the pool at the Greensboro Aquatic Center from Wednesday through Saturday as the ACC Championships continue after last week's women's swimming and diving action opened the annual conference championship meet.
Over the next four days of swimming, several Panthers will aim for top times, school records and NCAA qualifying marks while chasing conference medals and Pitt team points in Greensboro.
"The guys are excited to get in the pool and compete," Pitt head coach John Hargis said. "They've prepared and worked hard all year to be ready for this meet. We're looking forward to playing our part and producing great times and quality racing in what will definitely be an exciting, competitive meet like every ACC Championships."
The Panthers traveled to Greensboro on Monday with a young but talented group of men's swimmers.
Leading the way, Pitt record-breakers Samy Helmbacher, Bence Szucsik, Blaise Vera and Eben Vorster are the team's biggest threats to contend for championship finals, medals and valuable team points. But the Panthers have strength in depth with Ellis Cannon, Alec Hoch, Armin Remenyi, Ryan Schonbachler and others set to contribute to relays and aim for finals appearances.
This week also marks the final opportunity for Pitt men's swimming seniors John Fauteux, Brian Lovasik and Aaron Sett to shine at the conference meet.
The ACC Championships resume with men's swimming relays on Wednesday at 4 p.m. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, preliminary events open at 10 a.m. while evening finals will commence at 6 p.m.
Finals on Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be broadcast live on ESPN3 via the ACC Network Extra.
