
Pitt Heads To The Sunshine State To Take On #21 Florida State

PITTSBURGH – Coming off of their thrilling victory over North Carolina on Thursday night, the University of Pittsburgh women's basketball team (10-16, 1-11 ACC) will look to win their second straight ACC game on Sunday afternoon as they head to the Sunshine State to take on #21 Florida State at 2:00 pm.

- Sunday afternoon's game at #21 Florida State will broadcast live on the ACC Network Extra or on WatchESPN/WatchESPN app.

- The 91 points scored by the Panthers in their win over North Carolina on Thursday are the most they have scored in an ACC game since joining the conference in 2013.
- The win marked the first ACC victory for head coach Lance White and the programs first conference victory since Feb. 1, 2018 when they downed Clemson.
- The Panthers had a pair of players score 20+ points in the same game for the first time since 2017 when Yacine Diop and Kalista Walters did it against Duquesne.
- The Panthers improved to 9-0 on the season when scoring 60+ points.
- The Panthers (10-16, 1-11 ACC) ended their winless streak in ACC play as they scored a season-high 91 points in the 91-78 wire-to-wire victory over North Carolina. The win marked head coach Lance White's first career ACC victory.
- Pitt had four players score in double figures for the first time this season in ACC play, led by a pair with 20+ points for the first time this season.
- Senior Danielle Garven continued her strong play for the Panthers as she went off for a career-high 27 points, seven rebounds and two assists while going 13-for-18 from the floor. This marked the third straight game that Garven led Pitt in scoring.
- Senior sharpshooter Cassidy Walsh finished the win with a career-high 22 points, five rebounds and three assists across 32 minutes of work. She finished the game going 8-for-10 from the floor including 6-for-8 from behind the arc.
- Kauai Bradley and Jasmine Whitney did a little bit of everything for the Panthers on Thursday as Bradley finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists and Whitney netted 13 points, seven assists and five boards in the win.
- As a team, the Panthers outrebounded the Tar Heels 38-35 while also shooting a season-best 59% from the floor and 57.9% from behind the arc.
- The Florida State Seminoles enter Sunday's game against Pitt ranked No. 21 in the nation as they own a 20-5 overall record and a 8-4 ACC mark. The Seminoles fell 73-68 in Clemson on Thursday night, their second loss against the Tigers this season.
- Florida State is led offensively by Kiah Gillespie who is averaging 16.8 points and 8.6 rebounds while shooting 45.2% from the floor and connecting on a team-high 39 three-pointers.
- Nicki Ekhomu ranks second on the team averaging 15.3 points, a team-high 3.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds while starting all 25 games. Nausia Woolfolk is enjoying a nice season as she is averaging 13.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and a team-high 1.8 steals while Valencia Myers has started all 25 games and is averaging 8.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and a team-high 1.7 blocks on the year.
- As a team, the Seminoles rank third in the ACC in scoring defense (60.4 ppg) and second in turnover margin (+4.0). Florida State also owns a 11-3 record at home this season.
- The Seminoles are coached by Sue Semrau who is in her 22nd season roaming the Florida State sidelines. Semrau currently owns a 425-245 career coaching record, all at Florida State. She has led the Seminoles to 14 NCAA Tournament appearances including five Sweet 16's and three Elite Eight's.
- Pitt will hit the road for their next three ACC games, starting this Sunday as they head to the Sunshine State for a showdown with Florida State on Sunday at 2:00 pm.
- The Panthers will wrap up their road swing with games against Syracuse and Wake Forest.
- Pitt will return home for their final regular season game of the season on Mar. 3 as they welcome nationally-ranked Louisville to the Petersen Event Center. The game will also be senior day and their Play4Kay game for the Panthers.
