Pitt Ties Fourth-Highest Beam Score in Program History
PITTSBURGH – Senior Lucy Brett earned her first individual title of the year, winning the uneven bars with a season-high score of 9.850 as the University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (5-4, 1-2 EAGL) hosted a tri-meet against North Carolina (5-3, 2-1 EAGL) and Temple (7-6, 0-0 ECAC) Friday night at Fitzgerald Field House.
The win is Brett's first since Jan. 20, 2018, when she claimed the victory on bars in a home dual meet against New Hampshire.
The Owls earned the team win with a score of 194.200, followed by the Tar Heels in second (194.050) and the Panthers finishing in third (193. 550).
In addition to Brett's significant performance, the Panthers tied their fourth-highest balance beam score in program history with a season-high 49.100. Pitt earned the score for the fifth time, with the last instance being March 4, 2018, in a quad meet against Penn State, West Virginia and Temple.
Freshman Kiley Robatin led the Panthers on beam by earning the team's first 9.900 on any event so far this year. She earned second place overall for her routine.
Other Panthers on the podium included sophomore Haley Brechwald on vault (third, 9.825), freshman Olivia Miller on bars (tie-second, 9.750) and senior Charli Spivey on floor (second, 9.850).
VAULT
Brechwald paced the Panthers with a 9.825 on vault, followed by junior Alecia Petrikis with a 9.750. Junior Deven Herbine and Spivey each earned 9.725, and Miller rounded out scoring with a 9.700. As a team, Pitt posted a 48.725 for the rotation.
BARS
Brett's season-high score of 9.850 was enough to earn the individual title on bars. Miller was runner-up with a score of 9.750. With just five entries in the event, Pitt earned a 46.875.
BEAM
Four Panthers earned season or career highs on beam, led by Robatin with Pitt's first 9.900 of the season – marking a career high for the freshman. Miller and senior Brittany West each posted career highs, with West at 9.875 and Miller at 9.725. In just her second appearance on beam this season, Herbine earned a season-high 9.800. Pitt's combined score of 49.100 is a season high on any event this season, and ties the fourth-best beam score in program history.
FLOOR
Pitt closed the night with Spivey tying a career-high 9.850 in the floor exercise to lead the Panthers. Petrikis followed with a season high-tying 9.800, and Robatin earned a 9.775 in her debut for the event. In total, Pitt scored 48.850 to complete the meet.

Pitt will travel to face EAGL opponent NC State Saturday, Feb. 9, at 4 p.m. at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, N.C. The meet will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra, available on the WatchESPN app.
