- Junior center Kalista Walters continues to lead the ACC in field goal percentage (.654). She ranks third in the league with 1.91 blocked shots per game.
- Sophomore point guard Jasmine Whitney is fourth in the ACC with an assist/turnover ratio of 2.02, and is fifth in the league with 4.9 assists per game.
- Redshirt junior forward Yacine Diop ranks 12th in the ACC in scoring average, with 15.5 points per game.
- The Panthers remain second in the country in total blocked shots (145), behind the nation's leader, William & Mary (168). Pitt leads the ACC in blocked shots per game (6.6), ranking sixth in the country.
A WIN WOULD…
- Even the all-time series with Clemson. The Tigers currently lead the Panthers, 6-5, after winning last year's meeting, 54-46, in Pittsburgh (Feb. 9, 2017).
- Be the Panthers' second consecutive win when playing in Clemson, S.C. The Panthers have not lost on the road against the Tigers since Jan. 12, 2014 (77-67).
- Snap a 13-game losing streak in ACC road games. Pitt's last road win in league play came Feb. 18, 2016, at North Carolina (76-70).
- Snap a six-game losing streak in overall road games, dating to the Panthers' 66-46 win at Cincinnati Nov. 21.
- Snap a four-game overall losing streak for the Panthers.
- Give the Panthers double-figure wins for the fifth consecutive season.
LAST TIME OUT
- Redshirt junior forward Yacine Diop posted her sixth double-double of the season as the Panthers fell short to No. 18/18 Duke, 58-46, Sunday at the 11th annual Pink The Petersen game at Petersen Events Center.
- Diop had 19 points and was one rebound away from tying a career high with 15. Sophomore point guard Jasmine Whitney was the only other Panther with double figures in the scoring column with 10 points and tied a season high with eight assists. Junior Kauai Bradley had eight points and seven rebounds.
- The Panthers wore pink jerseys and gave out free pink T-shirts to fans in support of breast cancer research. More than 100 breast cancer survivors were honored on the court at halftime in front of a crowd of 2,430. A portion of each ticket sold was donated to Susan G. Komen Pittsburgh.
MILESTONE WATCH
- Three Panthers are nearing career milestones:
- Redshirt junior Yacine Diop is 35 points away from reaching 1,000 for her career. She is on pace to become the 19th 1,000-point scorer in school history and the first to reach the milestone since Brianna Kiesel did as a junior in 2013-14.
- Junior center Kalista Walters is one blocks and seven steals away from reaching 100 for her career in each category.
- Point guard Jasmine Whitney is three assists away from cracking the top five performances by a sophomore in program history. She has 107 this season, entering Thursday's game. Jo Jo Guzman ranks fifth all-time among Pitt sophomores with 109 (1995-96).
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
- Clemson (11-11, 1-8 ACC) is coming off of a 62-41 loss to NC State, Jan. 28 at Littlejohn Coliseum. Sophomore Kobi Thornton and junior Danielle Edwards were in double figures in scoring with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Thornton also posted eight rebounds, while Edwards added five rebounds, four steals and two assists.
- As a team, the Tigers rank second in the ACC and 18th nationally in blocked shots (119) and second in the league and 21st nationally in blocked shots per game (5.4).
- Thornton leads the Tigers in scoring overall and in ACC play. The 2017 ACC All-Freshman Team selection is averaging 10.2 points per game on the season, and 12.6 points per game through the Tigers' first nine ACC games. Thornton has scored in double figures in five consecutive games, and in six of the Tigers' nine ACC games. She picked up her first two double-doubles of the season against Boston College on Jan. 18 (16 points, 10 rebounds) and at No. 5/2 Notre Dame on Jan. 21 (16 points, 10 rebounds).
- The Tigers took a 6-5 lead in the all-time series with the Panthers after winning last season's meeting in Pittsburgh, 54-46 (Feb. 9, 2017).
