PITTSBURGH – Pitt track and field will compete at its first meet of the 2018 calendar year when it visits Penn State's Ashenfelter III Indoor Track in University Park, Pa., for the Nittany Lion Challenge Saturday.

SCOUTING THE FIELD

Teams competing at the Nittany Lion Challenge include Bucknell, Connecticut, Cornell, Georgetown, Iowa State, Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Point Park, Villanova and Virginia Tech.

LAST TIME OUT

Pitt gathered wins in 10 events to close out the Kent State Golden Flash Gala at Kent State Field House Saturday, Dec. 9.
Nine Panthers won individual events. Laila Ismail, Desiree Garland, Quadaisha Newkirk and Alexis Leech claimed the women's 4x400m victory at 3:47.68.
Panthers recording individual wins included:
- Senior Whitney Martin, women's 60m (7.57)
- Senior Desiree Garland, women's 300m (38.94)
- Senior Quadaisha Newkirk, women's 500m (1:12.96)
- Senior Beth Shenck, women's 800m (2:14.02)
- Senior Melanie Vlasic, women's mile (5:06.66)
- Junior Natalie Hilton, women's 3000m (10:30.73)
- Freshman Lonzell Feagin, men's 300m (34.17)
- Freshman Greg Lauray, men's high jump (2.05m)
- Freshman Kollin Smith, men's long jump (7.21m)

Pitt will continue indoor season at the YSU College Invitational hosted by Youngstown State in Youngstown, Ohio, Friday, Jan. 19.
