Twenty-Two Panthers Post Top-Five Finishes
RESULTS
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Thrower Andin Fosam and sprinter Jabari Michael-Khensu each picked up a win to lead 22 Panthers who recorded top-five finishes for Pitt track and field at the Nittany Lion Challenge hosted by Penn State at Ashenfelter III Indoor Track Saturday.
Fosam, a senior, secured a mark of 19.50m to place first in the women's weight throw. Michael-Khensu championed the men's 300m with a time of 33.91.
"Overall I thought we were pretty competitive coming off of a three-week holiday break," head coach Alonzo Webb said. "What I was looking for most were competitive efforts from everyone and I think we achieved that. This meet also gave everyone a starting point from which to build the rest of the season on. We were able to see our strengths and weaknesses going into next weekend. Beginning this weekend we have to take full advantage of every opportunity because the indoor season seems to go so quickly. It was good to see so many top-five performances and wins from Andin Fosam in weight throw and Jabari Miachael-Khensu in the 300m in his first indoor season with us."
Including Fosam, thirteen Panthers on the women's side made top-five finishes, including:
-Sophomore Taylor Middleton, women's long jump (second, 5.67m); women's 200m (fourth, 25.52)
-Senior Whitney Martin, women's triple jump (fourth, 11.58m)
-Senior Desiree Garland, women's 300m (fifth, 39.18)
-Freshman Breanna Phillips, women's 600m (second, 1:32.26)
-Senior Quadaisha Newkirk, women's 600m (third, 1:32.54)

-Sophomore Makenzie Zeh, women's mile (fifth, 4:53.97)
