Planellas to Participate in 2018 MLS Player Combine

PITTSBURGH – Pitt midfielder Pol Planellas is set to participate in the 2018 adidas MLS Player Combine at Orlando City Stadium in Orlando, Fla., this week. Planellas is one of 70 players looking to make their MLS dreams come true.
The MLS announced Thursday the rosters and match schedule for the Combine, set to begin Saturday, Jan. 13. Prior to the start of matches, players will undergo medical and performance testing. Matches will be held Jan. 13-17 ahead of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft Jan. 19 in Philadelphia, Pa.
Planellas will play for Team X and wear No. 21 this week. He is joined by four fellow ACC players in Diego Campos (Clemson), Ben Lundgaard (Virginia Tech), Carter Manley (Duke) and Jason Wright (Clemson).
Players were divided into four teams and will play three matches. All matches are 40-minute halves with a 10-minute intermission.

Team X vs. Team Predator, 10 a.m. ET
Planellas is the first Pitt men's soccer player to be invited to the adidas MLS Player Combine. He joined the Panthers in the fall of of 2017 bringing international experience to the pitch as a midfielder. A native of Barcelona, he made 12 starts for the Panthers, logging 1,077 minutes. An All-ACC Second Team selection, Planellas finished with six points after recording four assists and one goal.
