RALEIGH, N.C. - The Pitt tennis team fell 6-1 Sunday afternoon at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center to No. 26 NC State in ACC action.
With the loss, the Panthers move to 3-10 on the year and 0-8 against conference opponents. Pitt earned one point in singles as NC State's Biance Moldaovan forfeited the match on court six.
"We had a good reaction in the beginning of singles and overall I thought we were playing solid tennis," said head coach Alex Santos. "Credit to NC State for taking the lead and running away with it. I believe in this group and we will keep fighting until we find it."
The Wolfpack earned an early 1-0 advantage in the dual as they clinched the doubles point with wins on courts one and two.
In singles, NC State handled business in straight set on all five courts.
The Panthers return to Pittsburgh Friday, April 7 for a 4 p.m. match-up with Wake Forest at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center. Pitt then hosts Virginia Tech Sunday, April 9 at 11 a.m.
