PITTSBURGH – Looking to snap a three-game skid, Pitt women's basketball (5-4, 0-0 ACC) will host UNCW (5-3, 0-0 CAA) Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader with men's basketball, set for 1 p.m. at Petersen Events Center.

- The Panthers continue to lead the ACC with 7.2 blocked shots per game.
- Pitt's stingy defense allows 56.4 points per game, good for fourth place in the ACC. The Panthers are also fourth in field goal percentage defense, limiting opponents to .352 percent success from the field per game.
- Junior center Kalista Walters is No. 2 in the ACC with a field goal percentage of .667, and is third in the league with 2.2 blocked shots per game. Redshirt junior forward Yacine Diop ranks eighth in the conference with 16.2 points per game.
A WIN WOULD…
- Snap a three-game losing streak for the Panthers. Pitt's last win came against Arkansas State Nov. 15, 87-47.
- Be Pitt's first against UNCW in the all-time series. The Seahawks won the only meeting between the teams, at the Radisson Suites Roundball Classic in Boca Raton, Fla., Dec. 6, 2002 (79-59).
- Improve the Panthers' record to 2-2 in games following a loss this season.
FOOD DRIVE
- The Pitt men's and women's basketball programs are taking part in the Pitt Food Drive Challenge benefiting Oakland Pantries.
- All fans who donate an unopened non-perishable food item at either the men's or women's basketball game Saturday will receive two tickets to the women's basketball game Sunday, Dec. 17 against Penn State.
- The Pitt Food Drive Challenge, spearheaded by the Student Government Board, Resident Student Association, Blue and Gold Society and Pitt Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, is running on-campus Nov. 27-Dec. 7. Saturday's collection at the men's and women's games will serve as the final push for the food drive. The challenge pits residence halls against each other in competition to see who can amass the most food collected by weight.
- All items collected Saturday will be donated to the Oakland Pantries along with items collected through the Pitt Food Drive Challenge.
- Gameday collections will take place in the Lobby and Concourse A at Petersen Events Center prior to the men's and women's games. The most needed items include: peanut butter and jelly, cereal boxes/oatmeal, condiments/cooking oil, snacks and rice. Other non-food items being collected including shampoo and conditioner, gallon-size zip-top bags and can openers.
- All items must be unopened non-perishable items with an expiration date on the package. The Oakland Pantries serve the Pitt community as well as the residents of Oakland.
LAST TIME OUT
- Redshirt junior forward Yacine Diop led Pitt with 18 points and seven rebounds in a 73-52 road loss to No. 10/11 West Virginia (8-0, 0-0 Big 12) Thursday at WVU Coliseum.
- Freshman Kyla Nelson added a career-high 14 points as the Panthers' only other double-figure scorer. Junior forward Kauai Bradley had team highs of six steals and four assists while posting nine points and three rebounds.
- The tenth-ranked Mountaineers had the upper hand in rebounding (39-29), field goal percentage (.463 to .339), points off turnovers (21-11), and second chance points (15-5).
GREAT BRIT
- In the Panthers' last two outings, freshman Kyla Nelson has posted back-to-back games besting her career high in scoring. The Worthing, England, native had 10 points at Fordham (Dec. 3) for the first double-figure scoring game of her career, and followed that with a season-best 14 points at No. 10/11 West Virginia (Dec. 7). She joined the starting lineup against the Mountaineers for the first time since starting Pitt's first two games of the season.
- The rookie is third on the team with 6.6 points per game, and leads the squad with 1.33 triples made per game.
SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS
- UNCW (5-3, 0-0 CAA) has won its last two games, both at home, against VCU (83-67) and NC Central (89-63). The Seahawks are winless on the road this season, dropping contests at Coastal Carolina (57-41), North Carolina (86-60) and Furman (76-71).
- Three Seahawks average double figures in the scoring column, led by forward Jenny DeGraaf's 14.4 points per game, followed by guards Madison Raque and Lacey Suggs' 14.0 ppg scoring average apiece.
- Pitt is looking for its first win against UNCW, dropping the only meeting between the teams, at the Radisson Suites Roundball Classic in Boca Raton, Fla., Dec. 6, 2002 (79-59).
