PAW PRINTS
- In the 81-63 win over Towson Sunday, the Panthers extended their winning streak when scoring 80 or more points to 10 games. The streak dates back to a double-overtime loss to Providence (85-83) Feb. 6, 2013.
- With 24 points against Towson (Nov. 19) and 22 against Duquesne (Nov. 16), redshirt junior forward Yacine Diop is the first Panther to post 20 or more points in back-to-back games since Brianna Kiesel did so respectively against Notre Dame (27) and Clemson (22) Feb. 26 and March 1, 2015.
- Pitt leads the ACC With 7.5 blocked shots per game. Kalista Walters is the Panthers' top shot blocker with 2.8 per game, and ranks second in the league.
- Walters leads the ACC in field goal percentage at 72.2 percent (26-of-36).
A WIN WOULD…
- Snap an 11-game losing streak for the Panthers when playing on the road. Pitt's last true road win was Feb. 18, 2016, at North Carolina (76-60).
- Snap a two-game losing streak against non-conference opponents on the road or at neutral sites. Pitt's last win against a non-conference opponent on the road or at a neutral site was against McNeese State at the Patrick Harrington Classic in December 2016 in Niceville, Fla.
- Snap a two-game losing streak for the Panthers in the all-time series with the Bearcats, and improve Pitt's record to 10-4 against Cincinnati.
- Improve Pitt's record to 5-1 when playing on the road at Cincinnati.
- Improve the Panthers' record in November to 10-2 since last season.
LAST TIME OUT
- For the second consecutive game, redshirt junior forward Yacine Diop reached the 20-point mark to lead Pitt as the Panthers defeated Towson, 81-63, Sunday afternoon at Petersen Events Center.
- Diop scored 24 points on 7-of-18 from the field, 1-of-3 from long range and 9-of-13 from the free throw line. She added nine rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block. Her nine free throws and five assists are career-high marks.
- She led four double-figure scorers for Pitt, including junior center Kalista Walters (12), sophomore guard Jasmine Whitney (10) and junior guard Cassidy Walsh (10). Junior forward Danielle Garven had nine points and eight rebounds in a near-double-double effort, and freshman guard Pika Rodriguez came off the bench to record her first collegiate minutes and score back-to-back 3-pointers. She ended with eight points.
- Pitt was effective from the free-throw line, making 24-of-30 (.800), and had 22 assists on 26 made field goals.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
- After dropping its season opener at East Tennessee State (Nov. 10), Cincinnati (3-1, 0-0 American) has won three consecutive games, most recently defeating Miami (OH) Saturday, 73-62. Five Bearcats recorded double figures in the scoring column against the Redhawks, led by Ana Owens' 14 points. Freshman forward Iimar'I Thomas is the team's top scorer and rebounder so far this season with 16.3 points and 7.5 boards per game.
- Due to renovations of Fifth Third Arena, the Bearcats will play all their 2017-18 home games at nearby St. Ursula Academy. The Gymnasium and Convocation Center holds a capacity of about 1,000.
- The Panthers and Bearcats will meet Tuesday for the first time since both teams were members of the Big East. In the last meeting, Pitt dropped a 59-50 decision at Petersen Events Center Feb. 20, 2013.
- Pitt leads the all-time series with Cincinnati, 9-4, and holds a 4-1 advantage when playing in the Queen City.
