PITTSBURGH – Looking to extend its favorable start to the 2017-18 season, Pitt women's basketball (2-0, 0-0 ACC) will host Duquesne (1-1, 0-0 Atlantic 10) in the 36th edition of The City Game at Petersen Events Center Thursday at 7 p.m.
HOW TO FOLLOW
- The game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra, with Mike Nicastro on the call and Kevin Wheeler as analyst.

PAW PRINTS
- Two Panthers are averaging double-double numbers early this season: redshirt junior forward Yacine Diop and junior center Kalista Walters.
- Diop has made a dramatic debut thus far after sitting out the 2016-17 season with a leg injury, posting back-to-back double-double performances for the Panthers in their first two outings.
- Walters gathered a career-high 16 boards in the season opener against Youngstown State and followed up with another double-figure rebound game with 10 against Cornell.
A WIN WOULD…
- Give the Panthers a 3-0 record for the third consecutive season, and for the third time in head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio's five seasons at Pitt.
- Snap a three-game losing streak for the Panthers against the Dukes. Pitt's last win against Duquesne was during McConnell-Serio's first season (Dec. 29, 2013), 67-57.
- Give Pitt a 21-15 advantage in the all-time series with Duquesne, and a 13-5 record at home.
PANTHERS UNITE!
- Saturday will be Pitt women's basketball's Panthers Unite event, where all Pitt student-athletes are encouraged to attend and cheer on their fellow Panthers. The initiative is designed to showcase all 19 Pitt varsity sports teams together. One event from each of the school's 14 programs' schedules (combining men's and women's cross country, men's and women's indoor/outdoor track and field and men's and women's swimming and diving) was designated as the Panthers Unite promotion.
SCHOOL DAY RECORD
- A promotion-record 10,587 students, teachers and fans attended Pitt's ninth annual School Day game Monday at Petersen Events Center. The attendance number ranks as No. 2 all-time for a women's basketball game at the venue since it opened in 2002-03.
- The School Day game dates back to November 2009. Pitt is 7-2 all-time when hosting the promotion, dropping decisions in 2012 and 2014.

LAST TIME OUT
- Redshirt junior forward Yacine Diop produced her second consecutive double-double as the Panthers took down Cornell, 51-39, on School Day at Petersen Events Center Monday morning.
- In front of a School Day-record crowd of 10,587 that included students and teachers from more than 110 Pittsburgh-area schools, Diop led the Panthers with 13 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double in just two games this season. The 5-foot-10 forward also put up team highs of five steals and four assists. Junior center Kalista Walters nearly joined her in the double-double lane with eight points and 10 rebounds.
SCOUTING THE DUKES
- After falling to Charlotte in its season opener (Nov. 10), Duquesne (1-1, 0-0 Atlantic 10) earned its first win by defeating Winthrop, 81-54, on the road Sunday. Julijana Vojinovic led a quartet of double-figure scorers for the Dukes with 16 points. Conor Richardson scored 14 and Kadri-Ann Lass and Helmi Tulonen each added 13 The Dukes did not trail once and scored 21 points off of Eagles turnovers.
- Vojinovic and Chassidy Omogrosso pace the Dukes with 14.0 points per game, followed up by Conor Richardson's 12.5. Eniko Kuttor is the team's leading rebounder with 7.0 boards per game.
- Last season against the Dukes, Pitt fell, 63-54, at A.J. Palumbo Center.
