Pitt Falls Short on Senior Day
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women's soccer team fell to NC State Sunday afternoon, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Wolfpack at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
The game served as Pitt's Senior Day, as the Panthers honored Jo Fischer, Hanna Hannesdottir, Seyla Perez and Emma Pozzulo.
"It was good to get out there and score some goals, I thought we should have scored more," said head coach Greg Miller. "But, the fact of the matter is that we put more balls in the back of the net today and that is something we can build off of."
NC State jumped out to the 1-0 lead in the 11th minute, as Maxine Blackwood cleaned up a scramble in front of the net. Pitt would tie it up in the 42nd minute, as Taylor Pryce scored her fourth of the season on a nice cross pass by Christiana Davey.
The Wolfpack netted two quick goals to open the second half, finding the back of the net in the 57th and 60th minute to take a 3-1 advantage.
Redshirt junior Ashley Moreira would get Pitt back in the game in the 66th frame, taking a pass from Pryce to cut the NC State advantage to 3-2.
Physicality would dominate the rest of the game as the two teams saw five cards in the second half but NC State would hold on for the 3-2 victory.
With the loss, Pitt falls to 3-8-3 (0-5-1 ACC). Pryce led the offensive charge with a goal and an assist, tallying three shots. Moreira notched a goal off two shots. Redshirt freshman keeper Katelyn McEachern tallied three saves in the effort.

Pitt hits the road for the next three games, traveling to Louisville (Oct. 13), Miami (Oct. 19) and Florida State (Oct. 22). The Panthers close out the regular season at home on Oct. 26, hosting Boston College.
