Panthers Set for Final Regular Season Road Contest

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh men's soccer team is set to play in its final regular season road match of the year Friday, Oct. 20 at No. 10 Virginia. Conference action is set to get underway at 7 p.m. in Charlottesville, Va., at Klöckner Stadium.
Pitt enters Friday's contest with an 8-6 overall record and is 2-4 against ACC foes. The 10th-ranked Cavaliers are 9-2-3 overall with a 2-1-3 mark in conference play.

- The Panthers are searching for their first win over Virginia as the Cavaliers own a 5-0-1 record over Pitt.
- In their last meeting a year ago in Pittsburgh, the two teams played to a double overtime scoreless draw.

- It was another historic night for the Panthers a week ago in South Bend, Ind., as Pitt upset No. 7 Notre Dame, 1-0.
- Freshman Alexander Dexter netted his fifth goal of the season in the 52nd minute that would be enough for Pitt to hold on for the win.
- The Panthers' victory marked the first over a top-10 opponent since the 2000 season when they upset then-ranked No. 2 St. John's.

- The Cavalier offense is led by junior forward Edward Opoku with 17 points (seven goals, three assists) on the year.
- In goal, senior Jeff Caldwell has been a steady force with a 0.93 goals against average with four shutouts in 2017.

- The Panthers return to Pittsburgh for their final two regular season games of 2017 when they host No. 19 Akron Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. followed by Virginia Tech Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.
