NEW ENGLAND, Conn. - Rising senior Audrey Ann Blakely of the Pitt tennis team, continues to gain valuable competition experience this summer as she recently made the doubles final of the ITA Summer Circuit on the campus of Sacred Heart University.
"Audrey Ann has really stepped up this summer," head coach Alex Santos said. "This is her second tournament and by getting second place this weekend in doubles, she is only helping to improve our chances as a team when the season comes. I know she wants to close out her senior season with a bang, and she's definitely starting on the right foot."
Blakely and her doubles partner, the No. 3 seed, jumped in the Round of 16 ready to battle. They downed their first opponents 8-1, before collecting an 8-2 win in the quarterfinals. Facing the No. 2 seed in the semifinals, the tandem outlasted their competitors, 8-4. However, their journey fell short in the finals as they suffered an 8-4 loss.
