LAWRENCE, Kan. – Junior Audrey Ann Blakely and Tiffany Hollebeck, a rising senior from Texas, captured the doubles ITA Summer Circuit title at the University of Kansas this past weekend.
The tandem took down Clare Raley and Bea Machado Santos of the University of Missouri, 8-4.
“Audrey Ann has been in three consecutive doubles finals in the ITA Summer Circuit,” said Pitt women’s tennis head coach Alex Santos. “She has been able to polish the little details in her game that make her a more complete player. At the same time she has become more efficient at the things she already does well.”
Blakely and Hollebeck had a strong showing in Kansas as they battled past their opponents with final scores of 8-2 in the opening and quarterfinal rounds, respectively.
In the semifinal round, the duo faced Patricia Husakova and Kristina Savchenkov of Northeastern State and came out with an 8-3 victory.
The pair carried their momentum in to the final round and defeated junior Raley and sophomore Santos, 8-4, to claim the doubles title.
“At Pitt we are just very happy to see her collecting the rewards of her hard work and we are excited to push her to new heights,” Santos said.
