CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Pitt tennis team concluded action at the Harvard Invitational on Sunday, which also marks the end of the fall season. The Panthers wrapped up the weekend with ACC-foe Syracuse, taking six total matches from the Orange.

"We ended the day and invitational the way we wanted to: winning more doubles and singles matches than our opponents," head coach Alex Santos said. "Gabi [Rezende] played close to flawless tennis in singles, Carina [Ma] showed incredible maturity for a freshman, and Callie [Frey] is letting her tennis do the talking. In doubles, we loved to see Lolade [Ogungbesan] and Amber [Washington] taking full advantage of their athleticism and power. We have come a long way since the beginning of our competitive fall schedule and I have great trust in the team."

The Panthers were competitive with Syracuse, dropping just one doubles match and two singles. In singles action, freshman Carina Ma collected a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Nicole Mitchell for her fifth straight win. Ma concludes the fall season with an 8-5 tour record.

Sophomore Callie Frey and freshman Clara Lucas also won their singles matches today, their fourth consecutive, respectively. Frey took down SU's Libi Mesh, 6-2, 6-2, while Lucas defeated Boston University's Kaely Malik, 7-6(7), 6-0. After today's action, Frey leads the squad with her 11-6 tour record.

Doubles action saw another win from the duo of senior Amber Washington and junior Lolade Ogungbesan. The tandem posted an 8-6 win over Knutson/Messineo. The freshman tandem of Carina Ma and Natsumi Okamoto recorded another win this weekend as they defeated the doubles team of Libi Mesh (Syracuse) and Kaely Malik (BU), 8-5.
