ITA Atlantic Regional Bracket
BLACKSBURG, Va. – The University of Pittsburgh women’s tennis team is at the ITA Atlantic Regional this weekend hosted by Virginia Tech at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
All seven Panthers will be participating in this prestigious tournament which features the top talent from the east coast.
“We have another great opportunity this weekend at the ITA Regional tournament hosted by Virginia Tech,” head coach Alex Santos said. “We function by the mindset that good things happen to good people and that hard work eventually pays dividends. We were able to get every girl on our team selected into the tournament, which is due to the work they have put in already this fall. The girls know that they will be facing tough competition within the region and any opportunity to play in such a prestigious event is a privilege. I know they will all come out ready to compete and to show a willingness to play with an aggressive mindset.”
In singles, Audrey Ann Blakely and Lolade Ogungbesan received berths into the main draw, while Molly Wickman, Katherine Castro, Callie Frey and Amber Washington are in the qualifying bracket and will have to earn two singles victories in order to play in the 64-player main draw. Blakely is seeded eighth overall in the main draw.
Blakely’s opening round match is against Olga Barcheheuskaya of VCU. Ogungbesan will take on Skylar Morton of Virginia in the opening round.
