James Madison Defeats Women's Soccer 6-0

HARRISONBURG, Va.—The Pitt women’s soccer team dropped a 6-0 decision to James Madison Friday evening at the JMU Soccer Complex. Pitt drops to 0-2-1 on the young season while James Madison moves to 2-1-1.
The match marked the first contest of the JMU/Fairfield Inn by Marriott Invitational for both teams. Pitt plays its second invitational game on Sunday against Delaware at 11 a.m. Delaware (1-1-0) defeated Stony Brook in Friday’s first game, 3-0.
James Madison led 4-0 at halftime. All four goals were scored within a 15-minute span. Haley Miller gave the Dukes a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute when she scored on a header. Katie Hyland followed with a goal two minutes later on shot after receiving a pass from Lauren Wilson. Ariana Ruela and Hyland followed with goals in the 43rd and 44th minute respectively to give the Dukes a 4-0 lead.
JMU added two insurance goals in the second half.
Pitt finished the game with eight shots including four on goal. Katelyn Lippert concluded the match with three shots and Dana DelleFemine finished with two.
JMU outshot the Panthers 29-8. Pitt goalkeeper Nicole D’Agostino made three saves while JMU keeper Kate Courter finished with four.
