PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh women’s tennis team hosts two Big East opponents this weekend.
On Friday, March 18, the Panthers (5-6) will take on in-state rival Villanova at 12:30 p.m. The next day Pitt faces Seton Hall at 1:00 p.m. Both matches will be held at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Club in Harmarville, Pa.
Pitt is coming off its first Big East victory of the season, a 7-0 win over Providence. The victory marked the third shutout in five wins this season for the Panthers. Junior Minh Evans and sophomore Karma Parbhu won every game in both their singles and doubles matches versus the Friars.
Additionally, sophomore Gabrielle Catanzariti has won her last three singles matches, the last two coming as the team’s No. 1 player.
The Wildcats (1-3) are coming off a pair of losses. Pitt holds a 15-6 advantage in the all-time series and has won every match since 2004.
Seton Hall (3-9) traveled to Orlando on March 8-10 for their spring break trip, earning two wins to close out the week. The Pirates hold a slight 6-5 advantage in the all-time series, but the Panthers have won the last three contests.
