BETHESDA, Md. — The University of Pittsburgh’s three-game series with Georgetown University will be cut short to due inclement weather conditions here in Bethesda, Md. Rain has forced a cancellation of today’s game, the schedule series finale which would have been played at Shirley Povich Field.
The Panthers and Hoyas split a doubleheader yesterday, with Pitt dropping game one 7-5 and making a remarkable comeback in game two for the win. The Panthers entered the night the ninth down 5-3 and scored three runs for the win. Chris Tonte’s two-RBI single tied the game before Zach Duggan’s bunt down the right line went rolled just far enough for Matt Litzinger to score from third, avoiding the tag at home for the game winning run.
The Panthers will be back in action this week with a home game against Cleveland State on Tuesday May 5, beginning at 3 p.m. On Wednesday, May 6, the Panthers will square off against Duquesne University at 3 p.m. at PNC Park.
