PITTSBURGH-In a makeup match, the University of Pittsburgh women’s tennis team will make a short trip down Forbes Ave. for a non-conference, cross-town rivalry match against Carnegie Mellon on Wednesday, April 8, at 4 p.m.
The Panthers are coming off a 1-1 weekend where they rallied their fifth shutout of the season over Connecticut (7-0), but dropped a contest to Rutgers (6-1). Pitt stands at 11-6 on the season with a 6-2 Big East record.
The No. 1 doubles team of senior Kristy Borza (Beaver. Pa/Beaver Area) and sophomore Elizabeth Adams (Reading, Pa./Wilson) are 21-4 on the season, which is a program record for a doubles pair at Pitt.
Their opponent, Carnegie Mellon has a top ranked doubles pair in Ashley Herrick and Laura Chen who are 13-3 on the season and have won two University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week honors. Last year, the Panthers earned an 8-1 victory over CMU. Pitt also leads the all time series at 27-2.
Borza looks to add to her school records of combined wins (174), singles wins (91) and doubles wins (83).
