Softball Slips, Records Split on the Weekend

FARMVILLE, Va.--Pitt earned the split in its second game of the day, as the Panthers fell 4-1 to Bucknell at Lancer Field in Pitt's final contest of the Longwood Leadoff Classic.
The Panthers struck first with a run in the fourth inning, after senior Kelly Stiles (Thurmont, Md./Catocin) tallied a sacrifice fly deep in left field. Junior Samantha Card (Miami, Fla./Our Lady of Lourdes/Florida International) scored the run and advanced to base with a one-out double. Card then moved to third following two walks.
The Bison countered with four unearned runs in the fifth, as Pitt committed five errors.
On the mound, sophomore Kayla Zinger (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope) recorded five strikeouts in her second complete game of the season.
Card and senior Jessica Dignon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) each stole a base in the game.
Pitt travels to the UNLV Eller Media Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., to face Cal on 11:45 a.m.
