PITTSBURGH - In its final home match of the season, Pitt's women's tennis team hosts Mercyhurst at Club 4 Life on Tuesday, April 3, at 1 p.m. The Panthers have won five of their last six matches.
Senior Annie Davies (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg) will take to the court in hopes of solidifying her position in Pitt's record books as the school's all-time victories leader. She is currently tied for first with Fran Davis (1994-98) at 124 wins.
Junior Carlie Smith (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Prep) also has her sights set on a personal milestone as she is in search of her 100th career victory against the Lakers. If successful, Smith would be the first Panther to join this elite group as a junior.
This match will be Mercyhurst's (11-11) first action in over a month, as it fell to the Savannah College of Art and Design, 6-3, in its last bout.
Last season Pitt traveled to Erie, Pa. and shut out the Lakers 9-0 in its fifth contest of the season. Pitt is 8-1 against the Lakers all-time and has won the last five meetings between the two schools.
