In the match, sophomore Christie D'achille (Gibsonia, Pa./North Allegheny) won Pitt's sole point with a tie-breaker victory in the No. 5 singles spot. D'achille improved to 23-7 on the season. Her 23 wins ties junior Carlie Smith's (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) fourth-best mark for singles wins in a season from last season.
In double action, Pitt lost the doubles point, but played two very exciting and close matches in No. 1 and No. 2 action.
Pitt now awaits the announcement of its postseason fate in the Big East Championships held in Tampa, Fla. from April 19-22.
