Women's Tennis Reaches 300 Win Milestone

PITTSBURGH--Pitt set a milestone with its 300th win, as the Panthers defeated St. Francis (PA), 7-0, and improved their season record to an unblemished 4-0 mark. This is the Panthers third shutout of the season.
The Panthers moved a step forward on the season by keeping their undefeated record in tack, but they also took a huge step in the program by winning their 300th match. The women's tennis program was established in 1975 and is now 300-249 overall.
With the victory, this is also the first time since the 1996-97 season that the Panthers have started a season 4-0.
Pitt's doubles teams won an early point in the match when it swept the Red Flash. The team of sophomore Kristy Borza (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) and junior Leah Friedman (

Following doubles play, Pitt won all six of its singles matches and only dropping one game in all the sets.
Leading the Panthers in the No. 1 position, Borza was victorious 6-0, 6-0 and improved her singles record to 17-4.

Visram remained undefeated in her win, posting a 4-0 singles record and a 4-0 doubles mark.
In the hunt to join the 100-Victory Club, Smith now has 90 career wins and is just 10 wins shy becoming the ninth Panther to reach that milestone. Friedman is just 16 wins away, as well.
