Women's Tennis Advances To Quarterfinals Action

WEST POINT, N.Y.--Pitt's women's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2006 Eastern Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Championships after completion of the first two rounds. The Panthers earned wins in all four flights of singles action, while one doubles team picked up a win. Earning the No. 3 seed in the top flight, sophomore Kristy Borza (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) advanced to the quarterfinal round after defeating Playing out of the no. 9 slot in the second flight, junior Leah Friedman ( Senior Annie Davies ( third-seeded Kelley LoRusso of UConn this afternoon. In the fourth flight of singles, junior Carlie Smith (Bel Air, Junior Michele Petrasko (Clarks Green, Also in doubles action, sophomore Christie D'achille ( Action in the Eastern Women's Intercollegiate Championships resumes at 9 a.m. today.
