Softball Outlasts Villanova In Game One

The Panthers put four runs on the board in the sixth to outlast the Wildcats. Senior Christa Hunter (
Connor, then, tallied the third walk of the inning, which forced Kat Walsh to take over pitching duties. Five pitches later, senior Jessica Thomas (

In the third inning, junior Joey Scarf (Humble, Texas/Humble) tallied a line drive to left to get on base and earned another base when Megan Hord threw a wild pitch to Dignon. On the next pitch, Dignon hit a bullet up the middle, allowing Scarf to round the bases.
Villanova scored in the bottom of the fifth after a shot to right center field dropped, allowing Greta Holmgren to score. The Wildcats tied the game at two apiece with a single to left from Meghan Morese. Bases ended up loaded thanks to a controversial walk, but a composed Meghan Bostick (
Bostick (7-7) allowed seven hits in the game and fanned six batters in seven innings of work.
