Softball Blanks Minnesota, 4-0

CONWAY, S.C.--Junior Meghan Bostick pitched a shutout to secure Pitt's second win in the Myrtle Beach Chevy Chanticleer Classic, today. Fielding errors plague Minnesota as the Panthers pick up a 4-0 win over the Golden Gophers and improve to 3-6.

Bostick (Colleyville, TX/Grapevine) did the job defensively by allowing just three hits in seven innings, while fanning four batters.

Offensively, Pitt scored all the points they needed in the third inning, as the team earned three runs of three hits. With bases loaded and two outs on the board, junior Joey Scarf (Humble TX/Humble) doubled down the right field line sending senior Francesca DiMaria (Pittsburgh, PA/Montour) and junior Heather Connor (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) in for the score. Sophomore Jessica Dignon (Pittsburgh, PA./Baldwin), who was walked, also scored on the play when the there was an error by Minnesota's second baseman.

Later, in the top of the fifth, Dignon led off with a triple to right field and scored of a fielding error by the third baseman making a play on Connor's ball.

Pitt travels to UNC-Greensboro on Sunday, March 5 for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
