Women's Tennis Drops Two

The Panthers were defeated by UConn, 1-4 and St. John's, 1-5 over the weekend.
PITTSBURGH- The University of Pittsburgh Women?s Tennis team dropped two matches this weekend against BIG EAST Opponents. The Panthers were defeated 4-1 by Connecticut and fell to St. John?s, 5-.1 at Crocheron Park in Bayside, NY. The Panthers drop to 8-10 on the season and 0-5 in BIG EAST play.
Pittsburgh faced UConn on Saturday, April 9. The Panthers were victorious in two of the three doubles matches, giving the Panthers their only point came of the match. At No. 2 doubles, Annie Davies teamed up with Leah Friedman to defeat Jen LoRusso and Liz Dibbs, 9-8. Carlie Smith and Konita Jude defeated Ashley Petrozzi and Christine Durek, 8-3, at the No. 3 spot.
The Panthers faced the Red Storm of St. John?s on Sunday, April 10. Pittsburgh's only point came from a battle at the No. 1 spot in singles, as Jill Williams defeated Barbora Blahutiakova 14-12 in the third set.
The Panthers will finish out the regular season this week with two matches in Morgantown, W.Va. Pittsburgh will take on WVU on Thursday, April 14 and Villanova on Friday, April 15. Both matches are set to begin at 3:00 PM.
