Pittsburgh's Tennis Defeats Robert Morris

The Panthers won in convincing 7-0 fashion as it claimed all nine matches of the day.
PITTSBURGH?The Pittsburgh women?s tennis team defeated Robert Morris, registering a 7-0 victory over the Colonials on Tuesday at the Oxford Athletic Club in Monroeville.
Pittsburgh?s Jill Williams (Media, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and Emily Hughes (Waynesburg, Pa./Canevin Catholic) went 8-2 against Renne James and Sarah Hancock to start off the doubles match. Becky Emmers (Wilson N.C./Providence) and Annie Davies (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg) continued the winning streak with an 8-0 win over Katie Skopinski and Mary Esch. Leah Friedman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allerdice) and Konita Jude (Milwaukee, Wisc./Rufus King High School) finished out the doubles matches with an 8-0 win over Robert Morris? Lauren Dominijanni and Danielle Hunter.
In singles play, Pittsburgh?s Williams took the first match over James, 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot. Emmers defeated Skopinski, finishing the match with 6-1, 6-1 sets. Davies went 6-0 and 6-1 against Hancock. Friedman defeated Esch 6-0, 6-0, and Hughes defeated RMU?s Dominijanni. Carrie Smith (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) finished out the singles matches with a win over Hunter by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
The Panthers improve to 3-4 on the season. Pittsburgh takes on Bucknell University at the Oxford Athletic Club at 1 p.m on Saturday, March 5.
