PITTSBURGH – Taylor Middleton and Drew Glick of the track and field teams were named the University of Pittsburgh Student-Athletes of the Week, announced Tuesday.
Middleton picked up right where she left off last season, as she was able to claim a victory in the long jump at the Youngstown State Icebreaker Friday. She opened the season with a mark of 5.92m to earn the victory while also hitting the ACC qualifying standards with the jump. She currently leads the ACC and ranks inside the top-15 in the nation in the long jump. The junior then collected a fifth place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 11.37m to close out her strong weekend.
Glick opened up his indoor season on the right foot Friday afternoon at Youngstown State as he collected a victory in the 800m run at 1:50.88. Fellow Panther Dante’ Watson placed just behind Glick, finishing second in the race. Glick’s time was good enough to hit the ACC qualifying standard in the 800m while also ranking first in the NCAA in the event so far this season.
The Panthers will take a hiatus for the holidays, returning to indoor track and field competition Saturday, Jan. 12, at Penn State’s Nittany Lion Challenge in University Park, Pa.
