Daniel Anthony joined the University of Pittsburgh sports medicine team July 2021 and oversees the men’s basketball team.
Prior to Pitt, Daniel was an Associate Athletic Trainer from 2016-2021 for the men’s basketball and golf teams at the University of Rhode Island, where he was part of the 2016 and 2017 Atlantic 10 championship teams for men’s basketball. In addition, he spent the 2015-2016 season with the 73-9 NBA Finals runner up Golden State Warriors.
Daniel began his career in 2014 as an Intern Athletic Trainer for the University of Missouri, where he worked primarily with the softball team and assisted with Football.
Daniel graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Movement Science from Missouri State University in August of 2011and obtained a Master of Athletic Training from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in May 2014. In his time as an athletic training student in Lubbock, he was able to gain experience with the Texas Tech Men’s Basketball and Football teams as well as a local high school and Sports Medicine clinic.
Daniel is a BOC certified athletic trainer. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and College Athletic Trainers’ Society (CATS) and has a passion for continuing education. He has a certification in Applied Functional Science (CAFS) and Functional Soft Tissue Transformation (FSTT) through Gray Institute and has also attended courses with Postural Restoration Institute.
A native of Kansas City, Mo., Daniel resides in in the city of Pittsburgh – he enjoys live music, sporting events, and spending time with friends and family.
