Panthers Set for Series with No. 14 Seminoles

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt Panthers (28-14, 10-11 ACC) head to Tallahassee, FL for a three-game set with No. 14 ranked Florida State (30-14, 12-9 ACC) this weekend.
The Panthers took the series from the Seminoles the last time they met in 2024.
Head Coach Mike Bell spent nine years of his baseball career at Florida State. After helping the Seminoles to CWS appearances in 1994 and 1995 as a pitcher and first baseman, he spent seven years as Florida State's pitching coach from 2012-2018. Bell is 7-5 against the Seminoles as a head coach, with two series wins.
Top of the Order
• Last week, the Panthers won four-consecutive games over top-15 teams. Pitt began the week with a 23-1 trashing of No. 12 West Virginia on the road before sweeping No. 10 Virginia at home.
• Pitt's sweep over No. 10 ranked Virginia was their first over the Cavaliers in program history and their first over a top-10 team since 2021 when they swept then No. 9 Florida State in Tallahassee.
• The Oakland Lumber Company is open for business and Pitt's offense is one of the best in the country. They lead the nation in base on balls (313), rank second in OBP (.452), fourth in scoring (9.4), fifth in home runs per game (2.02), sixth in SLG (.571) and runs scored (406), ninth in home runs (87) and tenth in batting average (.318).
• The Panther offense set the program record for home runs in a single season with 87 this year. They have driven in 163 runs via the long ball, hitting seven grand slams and eighteen three-run home runs this year. Pitt's previous home run mark was 79 in 2022.
• SS Caden Dulin was named as a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award last week. He is batting .361 with 52 runs scored, 41 RBI, 11 doubles, 11 home runs and a team-leading 60 hits.
• OF Lorenzo Carrier ranks fourth in the country in walks (49) and OBP (.554), fifth in SLG (.828) and walks/game (1.14), while ranking sixteenth in RBI (57). He earned multiple midseason First Team All-America honors and was named to the Golden Spikes Award and Baseball America Player of the Year Midseason Watch Lists.
• Pitt leads the entire country in walks this season with 313. Lorenzo Carrier's 49 free passes lead the ACC and rank fourth in the nation. The program record for walks in a single season is 326, set in 2023. For an individual, the record is 57 which was set in 2024 by Luke Cantwell.
