PITTSBURGH – Pitt outfielder Lorenzo Carrier was named the District 1 Co-Player of the Year, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced Friday morning.
Carrier had a career year at the plate for the Panthers, and one of the best all-around seasons in program history. The redshirt senior, who played and started in all of Pitt's 57 games, hit .387 with 77 hits, 69 RBI, 67 runs scored, 57 walks, 20 home runs and 15 doubles while slugging .784.
Carrier became just the third player in program history to hit 20-plus home runs in a single season. His 20 home runs were the most by a Panther since 2009.
He pioneered a Pitt offense that was among the best in the nation. The Panthers set program records for home runs (109) and walks (397) while having their most hits (577), RBI (452) and runs scored (498) in a season since 2013.
The Bear, DE native also earned First Team All-ACC honors for the first time in his career, becoming Pitt's first such selection since the 2016 season.
Carrier leapt into the national eye with a month of March where he batted .500 with 28 hits, 28 runs scored, 33 RBI, 11 home runs and 25 walks while slugging 1.196 in 56 at-bats.
As for his work off the field, Carrier is very involved in the classroom and in the community and was named as one of the nine finalists for the 2026 Tony Gwynn Community Service Trophy. Academically, Lorenzo has earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District, Academic All-ACC and ACC Academic Honor Roll honors throughout his career.
