Pitt Closes Nine-Game Homestand Wednesday with Akron

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt Panthers (22-12, 6-9 ACC) host the Akron Zips (16-20, 6-12 MAC) on Wednesday evening to round out their nine-game homestand.
Pitt went 2-0 against Akron last season and have won each of their last four meetings against the Zips.
Top of the Order
• SS Caden Dulin has recorded a hit in each of the last 14 games. He is batting .354 with 39 runs scored, 29 RBI, nine doubles, six home runs and a team-leading 45 hits. Dulin was named the ACC Co-Player of the Week two weeks ago.
• The Panther offense has slugged 70 home runs so far this season. They have driven in 132 runs via the long ball, hitting seven grand slams and fourteen three-run home runs this year. Pitt's single-season home run record is 79, set in 2022.
• Lorenzo Carrier ranks third in the country in walks (39), seventh in RBI (52) and OBP (.550) and eighth in SLG (.865). He earned multiple midseason First Team All-America honors and was named to the Golden Spikes Award and Baseball America Player of the Year Midseason Watch Lists.
• Pitt earned a season sweep of Youngstown State with a 12-2 win in seven innings last Wednesday. LHP Antonio Doganiero pitched a gem, striking out a career-high seven batters over six shutout innings. His 1.72 ERA leads the team.
• Pitt leads the entire country in walks this season with 247. OF Lorenzo Carrier's 39 lead the ACC and rank third in the country.
• The Oakland Lumber Company is open for business and Pitt's offense is one of the best in the country. They lead the country in base on balls (247), rank fourth in OBP (.451), sixth in home runs per game (2.06) and SLG (.570), eighth in scoring (9.5) and ninth in home runs (70).
• Pitt has won each of their five home midweek games this season.
