Pitt Travels to Face Top-Ranked North Carolina Saturday

PITTSBURGH – No. 21 Pitt women's lacrosse heads to Chapel Hill Saturday for its fifth conference contest of the season, taking on No. 1 North Carolina at Dorrance Field. First draw is set for 11 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Pitt dropped a 10-7 decision to No. 20 Virginia Wednesday at Highmark Stadium, falling to 3-3 on the season and 2-2 in ACC play. Paige Telatovich led the Panthers with a hat trick and an assist, while Avery Moon added two goals and two assists. Molly Cain made nine saves in goal.
SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA
North Carolina enters Saturday's matchup undefeated at 6-0 and as the reigning national champion. The Tar Heels are averaging 19.50 goals per game and have outscored their opponents 117-44 on the season. Chloe Humphrey leads UNC with 31 goals and 13 assists for 44 points through six games.
MATCHUP HISTORY
North Carolina leads the all-time series 4-0, most recently defeating Pitt 16-9 at Highmark Stadium in 2024. Saturday marks the fifth meeting in program history and Pitt's first opportunity to earn a win over the Tar Heels.
NOTES
Avery Moon enters Saturday on a 22-game consecutive games with a point streak, the longest active streak in program history. Moon has scored in every game she has played as a Panther.
Lainey McGonagle leads the team with 16 caused turnovers through six games, putting her on pace to challenge the program's single-season record of 24.
